Privacy policy

Dry Home Advice is a UK/Ireland-focused household advice and affiliate content website. This policy explains what information may be processed when you use the site.

Information we collect

We do not currently provide user accounts or checkout services. We may process basic technical information automatically when you visit the site, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, timestamps and security logs. This is used for site security, reliability, debugging and performance.

If you use an email sign-up form, we collect the email address you submit, the page/source of the form, your consent confirmation, and basic anti-abuse metadata such as IP address, browser user agent and referrer. This is used to send occasional Dry Home Advice updates and to prevent spam or abuse.

Affiliate links

Some links send you to third-party retailers, including Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.ie. Those retailers may collect data about your visit and purchase under their own privacy policies. Dry Home Advice does not receive your payment details, delivery address or order history from those retailers.

Cookies and similar technologies

Dry Home Advice uses self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics to understand broad site performance, such as page views, referrers, device/browser type and approximate country. This analytics setup does not use tracking cookies and is not used to identify individual visitors. Essential technical storage may be used by hosting, security or browser features to deliver the site. The email sign-up form sends the information you enter to our self-hosted API and does not require tracking cookies. If advertising pixels or other non-essential cookies are added later, this policy and the cookie policy will be updated before that collection starts.

Legal bases

Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, the main legal bases are legitimate interests for security, performance, abuse prevention, affiliate-site operation and understanding broad site performance; and consent for optional email updates.

How long information is kept

Technical logs are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting and hosting operations. Email sign-up records are kept until you ask us to remove them or until we decide the list is no longer useful. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be kept for longer to understand site performance.

Who information is shared with

Information may be processed by hosting, security, analytics or infrastructure providers needed to run the site. Affiliate retailers process data separately when you click through to them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office. In Ireland this is the Data Protection Commission.
