Bathroom condensation buying guide
Best dehumidifier for bathroom condensation
A bathroom creates short humidity spikes. A dehumidifier can help nearby bedrooms, halls and landing areas, but it should not be the first fix for a bathroom with poor extraction or no ventilation.
Quick recommendation
Fix extraction first, then control the spill-over moisture
If mirrors, windows and nearby bedrooms stay wet after showers, compare a compact dehumidifier for the landing/adjacent room, plus a window vac for daily glass water. Do not place ordinary appliances where they can be splashed.
A dehumidifier cannot compensate for a fan that does not clear shower moisture.
Useful outside splash zones when moisture spreads after baths and showers.
Quickly removes standing water while you diagnose the humidity pattern.

When not to buy a dehumidifier first
- No working extractor: repair or upgrade extraction before buying another appliance.
- Leaking shower, failed sealant or wet plaster: fix the water source; a dehumidifier only dries symptoms.
- Black mould keeps returning: reduce moisture and clean safely; persistent or extensive mould needs professional advice.
- Only the mirror fogs briefly: normal short-lived steam may not justify a dehumidifier.
Still seeing wet windows after showers?
Run a 7-day humidity check and compare readings before and after showers. If humidity stays high for hours, a dehumidifier outside the bathroom may help.
